Hey, Guys!
Hope you had an amazing week and weekend! We were super busy getting things read for our opening day and getting more and more excited! We can't wait to show you guys around and have you play games on tech which truly is life changing!
Last week we did a quick intro to who we are but now we want to tell you about our hardware. It's hard to get excited for something if you don't really know what it is and how it works. Let's break it down:
HTC Vive Headset
The Headsets two lenses have Vibrant OLED display with a resolution of 2160x1200 which provides the highest quality visual display available in any room scale headset. Not to mention it has full adjustability for any head shape (like the kiddo's tiny heads) and the lenses can be moved closer or further away depending on your vision. They have a wide enough gap between your face andthe lenses as well so there is no problem accommodating someone with glasses.
The cool thing about this guy is he has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, why is that cool? It means you won't suffer from motion sickness like you would if you were using a budget headset which usually runs at 60 Hz. You won't look super sexy but it will be comfortable and you'll forget you're even wearing it after a few minutes of moving around in our huge rooms. Speaking of room scale...
Trackers/Lighthouses
These little guys are the heavy hitters of the HTC Vive and are what really sets it apartfrom any other headset on the market today. They sit up above judging you...I'm just kidding, they don't judge you but they do watch you which is kinda their job. The whole system has roughly 70 sensors which the lighthouses need to track, they use laser technology so they always know where you are. Inside the headset are magnetometers, gyroscopes, and accelerometers which help the lighthouses with precise tracking. These little guys are constantly communicating with each other as well as the headset and controllers to give you the smoothest play in the virtual world. It's so seamless you won't even notice you aren't actually experiencing what's going on in your headset.
Controllers
These are your hands, lasers or your guns to help you kick some serious zombie butt or to help you poke and interact with the world around you. The possibilities are pretty endless, it just depends on what game you wanted to be a part of. They are comfortable to hold and easy to reach all the buttons which is great, but the really awesome feature is the HD haptic feedback and did I mention wireless? One less thing to get tangled up when you are ducking and dodging arrows! It also comes equipt with wrist straps so you don't throw the controller through the TV (remember the first Wii? What a disaster for big screen TV's everywhere)
So there you have it, that's the HTC Vive in a nutshell. Now all you have left to do is come visit us so you can experience true room scale gaming. Still, have questions? Let us know in the comments section below and as always don't forget to follow us on social media. We are trying to do a gameplay video of Star Trek Bridge Crew but I can't seem to get Ensign Rao to listen to orders! I mean honestly, he drove us right into an asteroid! Well it's a work in progress...
See you all soon!
