We know many of you are concerned about the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and the possible effects it may have on your loved ones. As a family-owned and operated company with our own children and parents who are high risk to look out for, we wanted to have a transparent and open conversation about the facts and risks and what we are doing to keep everyone safe.
The facts:

1. COVID-19 is spread mainly by coughing, sneezing or direct contact with someone who is sick with COVID-19 or with surfaces they have recently touched.
2. The risk of exposure in Alberta is still assessed as low at this time.
3. The following events should be cancelled:
- Events with more than 250 attendees.
- This includes large sporting events, conferences and community events.
- It does not include places of worship, grocery stores, airports or shopping centres
- Events with more than 50 attendees and expects to have international participants or involves critical infrastructure staff, seniors, or other high-risk populations
What we are doing to ensure the health and safety of our customer and staff:
At Game OVR from day one, we have always valued cleanliness, and if we wouldn't be comfortable putting our headsets on our faces we would never put it on yours.
Your health and safety are one of our top priorities and core values which is why we have used Benefect from the start to clean and disinfect our facility.
Benefect is one of the most effective disinfectants in the world. It's used in maternity wards and neonatal care units where newborns with sensitive skin and no immune system need protection. More information about Benefect can be found here
In addition to our current cleaning regimen we will be instituting the following cleaning changes as of March 12th,2020:
-Disinfecting shared surfaces in our lobby and washrooms every 2 hours.
-Disinfecting all soft surfaces in the party room and the deluxe rooms between each use.
-We will have a sanitation station (wipes or hand sanitizer) at the front desk to be used at entry and exit.
-Disposable Face mask covers for the headsets will be available upon request.
-We will reserve the right to refuse service to anyone visibly ill or showing symptoms of Covid-19.
-We will ensure that no more than 40 people are in the building at any given time to prevent crowding.
-We will no longer be offering the water cooler or cups until further notice. We will still have drinks that can be purchased that are sealable.
As each of our rooms is separated by a physical barrier, and our play spaces are the largest in all of Canada there is little risk of coming into direct contact with other people in our facility.
The equipment is only used by 1 person at a time and thoroughly disinfected between uses so there is little risk direct contact with any contaminated surfaces.
What this means for you:
Game OVR will continue to provide a safe, inclusive environment for all ages and walks of life to continue enjoying virtual reality with peace of mind. The added precautions and cleaning times may mean that certain bookings may not run on time, but we will not rush or cut corners if it means putting anyone at risk, so we ask for your patience and understanding. We do not anticipate significant delays but in the mood of transparency and honesty, we want to be as forthright as possible.
At the end of the day, each person must decide for themselves what precautions to take, but we encourage you all the keep focused on the facts, take all necessary precautions advised by health professionals, and
do not panic.
We Canadians are a resilient, resourceful bunch, and if we work together we will see this through.
